Many of us know that February is Black History Month. We celebrate the lives and marks on history made by blacks in politics, science, education, medicine and in music. New York City’s Hot 97 & Mister Cee have created something special and I wanted to share it with all of you. I am a child of the 70′s, grew up in the 80′s and was present for the birth of Hip Hop, but it was the 90′s that shaped Hip Hop. The 90′s was the golden age of Hip Hop and I still find myself gravitating to that era of Hip Hop. Now don’t get me wrong I love all era’s of Hip Hop and will until the day I die. Gangsta Rap, West Coast, East Coast, Mid-West, Dirty South all have a place in my Hip Hop loving heart, but the 90′s was like my first, namean?
Mister Cee has chosen four legends of Hip Hop to guest Dj on the Throwback at noon show every Friday this month. The legends he chose are Pete Rock, Questlove, Dj Premier and Q-tip. In a statement about Black Fist Friday and the four legends he chose he had this to say….
“I chose these DJ’s to be a guest on my show because number 1, they all came from the 90′s era of hip hop & the music they made at that time was positive and uplifting and number 2, all four DJ’s are still relevant today”.…..source HOT97.com
