Well at least that is what Peter Moore thinks, and I’m definitely co-signing. Check out this article…
Previously the Head of XBOX and now President of EA Sports, Moore says, “It looks to me as if the Wii is going to have at least half the installed base of the overall industry and the Xbox 360 and PS3 are going to fight over the balance, based on the run-rates we’re seeing.”

The good folks at Electronic Arts once again flew your boy up to Vancouver B.C. to check out the reincarnation of the NBA Live franchise - a first look and preview of NBA Live 09.
I used to love her like hip-hop. I have known NBA Live for a while. We first met at Sega Genesis, but for the last 3 years NBA 2K has been my heart. They very first time I saw NBA 2K and interacted with her, I knew that my love affair with Live was quickly going to come to an end.
Each year I would check back in with my former love to see how she was doing, but it would always seem like she could never get her s*** together, and alas, I would stay faithful to NBA 2K for another year, until that one day.
I’m in Canada to visit EA. They say that they have found NBA Live and that she is doing better, she knows that she hasn’t been at her best in years and was committed to bringing her sexy back.
To see how David’s love affair ends…. Read the rest of this entry »

Taking Over the Game is an event created by Konsole Kingz to bring the Hip-Hop and Gaming industries together. The first one was at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas at Club OPM during the 2007 NBA All-star game. This year we felt we needed to do a part 2 at this year’s E3 media and business summit. The Source Magazine came through as the official media sponsor and special guest Hip-Hop celeb, Warren G, was in the house! Also, Nyerjized Games showed off the latest version of their black college football game with an interactive halftime using the Rockband drums. Peep the pics below. Read the rest of this entry »

I spent Wednesday roaming the halls of the LA convention center. This year, E3 is very muted. It no longer has the flash and fan fair of the E3’s of old. Today’s E3 is not a show, but a showing. Here are some games that are worth keeping an eye on.
The top of my list is Infinite Undiscovery, which is an Xbox 360 exclusive. This game is beautiful. When I approached the Square Enix display, I was treated to live game play that took place in what seemed to be an enchanted forest. The colors, lighting and artistic style really made the game stand out. The fighting was done in real-time, and the action can move pretty fast. Unlike most Japanese RPGs, you control your character, and only your character, in a third person view throughout the game. There are no grids or standing in line to wait for your turn. Its you and your AI squad attacking as you see fit.

The biggest thing I learned about Infinite Undiscovery has to do with the party system. In all other RPG party systems, you have to choose two or three characters to join you. The rest of the characters stay in some hub or are just with you in spirit. This is not true here. if there are ten people selectable for your party of four, anyone left over can form a second party… or squad. For this second squad, you choose which is the party leader, and who will follow him or her into battle. This second group of Ai roam the map as you do and fight as you do. It was cool finishing off a group of enemies and seeing the other squad off in the distance doing the same thing. I was told that there will be 18 characters that will join you on your quest. Most of which will be forming squads and rolling with you. That’s new, that’s hot.
I hope to get more playtime with this title before its release in September. For now though, keep an eye on this one if you go for fantasy RPGs.

Yes, you read the title right. E3 2008 was a damn joke. I waste of money and time if you ask me. Yeah, they showed some new games but where was the excitement. I tell you where it was, it was left in 2006 with the last real E3. Just look at the two pictures below .
E3 2006

E3 2008

The purpose of E3 is to generate hype and buzz for games that companies are putting out. I guarantee you if E3 2008 was like E3 2006 the sells of video game for this coming fall and next year will be greater then they are going to be. Read the rest of this entry »

The Sony Online room has everything. And we’re not just talking about Free Realms, the playful RPG gearing for a PC explosion and PS3 launch. Jimmy Lee, one of the most respected illustrators in the world, is over in the corner taking journalists’ questions about his role in the ambitious D.C. Universe Online project. (We try to score an interview with dude, but his publicist insists he can’t take any more. Damn.) Towards the back, there’s something else Read the rest of this entry »

…And we’re back. And what better way to get back into things than with Electronics Arts? A brand best known for its sports titles, EA kept a consistent crowd around its section at E3. Madden ‘09 and NBA Live ‘09 had a lot to do with that. Another sports game, Tiger Woods ‘09, didn’t grab the masses’ attention quite like the others, but it probably should have. Thanks to a new graphics engine, the trees along the Sawgrass course, the water at Pebble Beach and the shadows of St. Andrews look all the more realistic. Read the rest of this entry »

The Sporting News is out at E3 roaming the streets just like us. They stumbled across some info about NBA 09: The Inside and saw a familiar face on the set-up screens. No one has seen a cover yet, but rumor has it that Bron-Bron is finally going to grace a video game cover. Too bad the game is just iiiiiggght.
